“New Ecstasy” poses major health risks, reveals research in the United Kingdom
According to Dean Ames, the director of the Forensic Science Service Intelligence designer drug MDMA replaced drugs as the main ingredient in ecstasy tablets.BZP has been a great popular law before being reclassified as a controlled substance in December 2009.
The data generated by Dr. Cole and Dr. Vaughan gives clear evidence of cytotoxicity of BZP and its synthetic products at levels that may occur after ingestion. It also indicates that, in general, the liver, the site of detoxification for the body, is more sensitive to the action of these drugs.
Addiction expert Sarah Graham, a government spokesman FRANK drugs helpline, said: ‘BZP is not clear – it is a completely synthetic drug party that simulates the effects of ecstasy and speed, is a stimulant that can increase blood pressure. And can lead to an adjustment o.
‘Prior to our research there had been no systematic study of the toxicity of these drugs, which is necessary if we are to deal effectively with drug users, and inform people about the potential dangers associated with taking them.’
‘It ‘s rare now a drug, MDMA,’ said Ames. ‘There are hundreds of thousands of pills in circulation in the United Kingdom seem to ecstasy, but actually contain piperazines (a class of compounds including BZP).
‘We found that BZP is itself toxic to the kidneys, while the starting material, piperazine hexahydrate, showed toxicity only in the liver. In general the study showed that the drugs are soluble in water, impurities and toxic mixtures for liver cells, while compounds and mixtures that are soluble in fats are toxic to the kidney.
Anglia Ruskin University scientists showed for the first time the serious health risks associated with long-term benzylpiperazine (BZP), nicknamed ‘ecstasy again.’
‘You never know what you are getting, because the chemistry is constantly changing and mixing the drug with alcohol may increase the risk.’
‘The tablets are still being sold as ecstasy, and because they affect young people may think they are taking ecstasy.’
‘The work is important because it begins to provide an explanation of why people who have taken these drugs show symptoms that make up the A & E.
‘This also shows that different batches of drugs have different effects due to different proportions of drug and impurities in the material, and that users are exposed to toxic mixtures of drugs for which the short and long term is unknown and can not be easily predictable. ‘
‘The market and the abuse of synthetic drugs has increased dramatically clandestinely synthesized in the last ten years, and this was accompanied by an increase in complaints of serious illness and death associated with ingestion of these substances,’ said Dr. Cole, whose preliminary results were presented at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences annual conference ‘.
